An Interview with ChatGPT
By: Amanda Jerome
We get it! AI is everywhere right now. Need date night ideas? Ask ChatGPT. Need a vacation itinerary? Done. But when it comes to one of the most important days of your life, many couples are wondering: “Can ChatGPT plan my wedding?”
Sure, it can try. But unless your dream day involves exchanging vows with an AI avatar in the metaverse, you might want to think twice. We interviewed ChatGPT and here's what it had to say:
1. ChatGPT Doesn’t Know Your Love Story ♥️
AI is great at generating generic lists, but a wedding isn’t just logistics; it’s about celebrating your unique story. You deserve a wedding that captures the spark between you. A special day that takes your visions into account to plan your day. Your wedding is about your love, not a chatbot’s database.
2. A Wedding Is Not a Spreadsheet 📋
ChatGPT can give you a sample timeline or a budget template, but it can’t walk through your venue and say, “The light hits this spot perfectly for your first kiss photo.” It’s a tool, not your fairy god-planner 🪄.
3. Weddings Aren’t One-Size-Fits-All 💍
ChatGPT can generate a wedding checklist, but it doesn’t know your guest count, cultural traditions, or venue restrictions. A cookie-cutter list won’t prevent last-minute chaos when your ceremony setup time is cut short or when your reception space needs extra décor.
4. Robots Don’t Do Family or Vendor Drama 🎭
Let’s be real, every wedding has at least one “situation.” From seating chart squabbles to vendor negotiations, weddings are about managing people as much as details. Aunt Linda doesn’t like her seating assignment, the DJ’s stuck in traffic, the flower girl decides she’s not walking down the aisle. ChatGPT won’t step in to fix it.
5. No Real-Time Problem Solving ✨
Imagine ChatGPT negotiating with your florist: Florist: “These peonies are out of season.” ChatGPT: “Have you tried turning it off and back on again?” Yeah… no. Every wedding has a hiccup; a late limo, a missing boutonniere, unexpected rain. AI won’t grab an umbrella, sew on a button, or coordinate a last-minute room flip. A real planning system (or planner) will.
5. No Emotional Support Mode 🤪 🫠
The night before your wedding, when you’re spiralling in nervous energy about your big day, ChatGPT isn’t going to reassure you, remind you that everything is going to be perfect and remind you that you're marrying the love of your life and you hired a wedding planner to take care of all the details. It can spit out affirmations, sure—but they’ll land flat compared to a real human’s warmth and reassurance!
What ChatGPT Can Do for Weddings 😎
ChatGPT can still be a helpful assistant:
Brainstorming wedding theme ideas, hashtags, or signature cocktails
Drafting invitation wording or vendor emails
Creating a generic wedding planning timeline
